Heaven Official’s Blessing Rings in the New Year With Adorable Art

Heaven Official’s Blessing is closing 2023 and greeting 2024 with a new illustration.

An absolutely adorable illustration has graced fans’ screens, courtesy of Heaven Official’s Blessing. The chibi versions of the various Heaven Official’s Blessing characters sees Qi Rong thrashing about, tied up, and shooting daggers at Hua Cheng, who was the likely culprit while his son Gu Zi sits by his dad’s side. Feng Xin and Mu Qin are sitting side by side and doing their utmost best to ignore the other’s existence. Wind Master Shi Qingxuan is trying to entice Earth Master Ming Yi with his new dress. Lang Qianqiu is oblivious to the happenings around the table as he eats. A bright smile on his face, Xie Lian watches over Hua Cheng as they adorn their home with hanging chillies.

Based off the best-selling novel series written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, Heaven Official’s Blessing received a donghua adaptation in October 2020 with Li Haoling as the director. Season 1 contained 11 episodes and a special episode that released on Feb. 14, 2021. The story follows a thrice-ascended god named Xie Lian who unravels the mysteries of his past from 800 years ago when he meets a red-robed man named Hua Cheng who has been waiting for Xie Lian for a long time.

Season 2 follows Xie Lian as he travels deep into the Ghost City, the dangerous realm ruled by one of the Four Great Calamities, Hua Cheng who has people quaking in their boots when they hear his moniker Crimson Rain Sought Flower. The youth who stayed with him for a night had long disappeared, leaving behind only a silver ring on a necklace chain, but Xie Lian may reunite with him sooner than he may think. Ding Youxi voices Xie Lian in Season 2 with Ma Zhengyang voicing Hua Cheng.

The dub premiered on Nov. 8 with Howard Wang and James Cheek back as Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. The donghua also included the voice acting talents of Reagan Murdock as the Heavenly Emperor Jun Wu, Jacob Eiseman and Anjali Kunapaneni who voice the male and female versions of Wind Master Shi Qingxuan, Aaron Campbell as Pei Ming, Wendee Lee as Ling Wen, and Branden Loera as Lang Qianqiu. Lucien Dodge and Phil Song portray Mu Qing and Feng Xin.

2024 will continue to be the year of Hualian as the second season of Heaven Official’s Blessing, subbed and dubbed, is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and will continue to the new year.
