Parsyte: The Grey’s Trailer Sheds Light on Parasite and Human Relationship
The official trailer of Parasyte: The Grey previews the first meeting between Jeong Suin and the parasite who later becomes her partner.
The official trailer for Parasyte: The Grey has been released and highlights how Jeong Suin met her…unusual partner.
Netflix released the trailer for the K-drama adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga series Parasyte. In it, it shows how Jeong Suin was riding her bike at night before a car crashed into her. While she lay on the ground unconscious, a parasitic ball fell down from the sky, crawled over to her, and shot into her ear. The parasite explains that they are codependent on each other: one cannot live without the other.
Yeon Sangho, who is known for directing Train to Busan and Peninsula, will direct and write the script along with Ryu Yongjae who also worked on Peninsula with Yeon. Jeon Sonee stars as Jeong Suin, a young girl who becomes an unwilling host to a parasite. Koo Kyohwan plays Seol Kangwoo who has dedicated his life to hunting down the parasites and finding his sister. Lee Junghyun plays the leader of Team Grey Choi Junkyung. Kwon Haehyo and Kim Inkwon have also signed on to the television series.
The premise of Parasyte: The Grey comes out of Iwaaki’s original manga series but will feature a whole new story and new characters. Iwaaki’s series focuses on a high schooler named Shinichi Izumi who, similarly to Suin, enters a bizarre cohabitation with the parasite who takes up residence in his right hand. Izumi and Migi, the parasite, work together to fight the other parasites whose only goal is to eat humans.
Parasyte has been adapted in an anime series called Parasyte -the maxim- which aired from October 2014 to March 2015. The story has also been adapted into a film series with Takashi Yamazaki directing and Shota Sometani starring as Izumi. The first part premiered in November 2014 with the second part in April 2015.
Parasyte: The Grey streams exclusively on Netflix on April 5, 2024.
