Medalist Eyes January 2025 Premiere Window

Medalist is looking at a possible January 2025 premiere.

Medalist fans will need to wait a little longer before the skaters hit the rink.

Medalist is tentatively scheduled to premiere in January 2025. The announcement for the adaptation came in May 2023 where a key visual was dropped of Inori frozen in her final pose at the end of her program. The first PV for the anime adaptation has dropped, featuring the first meeting between Inori and Tsukasa with Tsukasa passionately declaring himself as Inori’s coach.

Medalist has revealed that Natsumi Haruse will voice Inori Yuitsuka and Takeo Ōtsuka will voice Tsukasa Akeuraji. Haruse has voiced Kaoru Ryūzaki in IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Theater and Milianne Grandria from Infinite Dendrogram. Ōtsuka has voiced Hikaru Sudō in Gene of AI and will voice Aoi Nanamori in Demon Prince of Momochi House.

Helmed by animation studio ENGI (The Detective Is Already Dead), Yasutaka Yamamoto has signed on as the director. Jukki Hanada will oversee the series composition and screenplay while Chinatsu Kameyama will design the characters.

Written and illustrated by Tsurumaikada in May 2020, Medalist follows two figure skaters who have been told multiple times by people around them that they should give up on their dreams. Tsukasa Akeuraji was forced to abandon his dream of singles figure skating in favour of ice dancing before retiring shortly, but when he meets young Inori who has the talent and passion for figure skating, it sparks something inside of him. The two work together to help each other make their dreams come true. The manga won in the Best General Manga category at the Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2023.

Kodansha USA has licensed the manga in English for a digital release.
