Billboard has revealed the English version of Oshi no Ko‘s hit opening song “Idol” had landed in the top spot on the Billboard Global Charts, excluding the United States. This marks the first time a song, originally performed in Japanese, to top the chart. Oshi no Ko burst onto the scene with a stellar first episode, topping the My Anime List chart, ahead of Fullmetal Alchemist for a short while. The anime became HIDIVE’s biggest launch ever and the opening song “Idol” soared past 1 million views within eight hours of its release.
