Tower of God Announces March Return After Hiatus
The fantasy-action webcomic Tower of God will return in March.
WEBTOON announced Tower of God would make its return on the platform sometime in March after the series took a hiatus that lasted more than six months. The series published its last chapter on Aug. 21, 2022 with Season 3, Episode 133. Tower of God‘s creator SIU announced the series would take a hiatus, citing health issues. SIU previously took a break in June 2020 due to health issues, before returning in May 2021.
Upon its return on Feb. 19, Korean NAVER released six new episodes. WEBTOON has yet to confirm whether it will do the same when the platform publishes the English translations. Fans met the announcement with excitement, anticipating the triumphant return of the popular webcomic.
Tower of God follows a young boy named Twenty-Fifth Bam who has spent most of his life living under the Tower with his only friend Rachel accompanying him. When Rachel decides to enter the Tower, Bam follows, determined to see his best friend again. Upon entering the Tower, he discovers the Tower is suffused with magical energy called Shinsu and is comprised of a strict hierarchy where those of a higher status live at the top levels of the Tower while those who are considered ordinary citizens, known as Regulars, climb up the Tower. Bam is an Irregular where the rules of the Tower don’t affect him. With the help of a team of friends and allies, he climbs the Tower, in search of his friend.
Telecom Animation Film produced the anime adaptation with K-Pop band Stray Kids performing the opening song “Top” and ending song “Slump.” The series ran for 13 episodes in April to June 2020. Crunchyroll announced a second season for Tower of God and released a trailer, but there is currently no premiere date set.
Tower of God is available to read on WEBTOON. Fans can watch the first season on Crunchyroll.
