The snarky Minato and kind, gentle Shizuma come to life in visuals for the Therapy Game live-action drama.
The live-action will cast two members from two groups. NAOYA from MAZZEL will portray Minato Mito while Yuki Tomita from Ryugujo will portray Shizuma Ikushima. The two pose in a cover with NAOYA evoking Minato’s laid-back and cool side while Tomita embodies the reliable and steadfast part of the character he’s portraying.
In a translation by Essential Japan, NAOYA described Minato as “delicate” and said he “came to love the beautiful story of the two of them, [Minato and Shizuma]!” Therapy Game will be Tomita’s third acting gig and first leading role and he was both excited and nervous. “I think this is a work where you can fully enjoy the romantic back-and-forth between Minato and Shizuma.”
The drama will be helmed by Misato Katō and Miyako Yasoshima with Yō Saitō and Shinju Funabiki writing the scripts. Video Planning will produce the series.
Written and illustrated by Hinohara Meguru, Therapy Game is a spin-off of Hinohara’s debut manga Secret XXX. The series follows Minato Mito who is incensed that Shizuma Ikushima doesn’t remember him after they spend a drunken night together. Hell-bent on revenge, Minato makes a bet with his friends that he can get Shizuma to fall in love with him and then break his heart. But Minato starts feeling torn about breaking Shizuma’s heart when the two fall in love with each other.
SuBLime publishes both Therapy Game and its sequel Therapy Game Restart, the former following Shizum and Minato navigating life as a couple. Therapy Game serialized from November 2017 to October 2018 with the sequel launching in October 2019. The series ranked at #7 in the Best Comic category of Chil Chil’s annual BL awards in 2019.
The drama premieres on October 29 on NTV.
