Spy x Family Musical’s 4 Anyas Get Cheered on by the Original Pink Gremlin

It’s Anya-ception when one pink peanut-loving gremlin visits the Spy x Family musical where four Anyas will take the stage.

A very special guest went to watch the Musical Spy x Family on its opening day.

Tatsuya Endo, the mangaka of the critically-acclaimed and well-loved manga series Spy x Family went to watch the musical adaptation of his work. Likely something that many creators can relate to, Endo said he, at first, felt “embarrassed by the fact that the lines I wrote were being sung.” As he continued watching and gradually got immersed in the experience, he soon forgot his embarrassment because of how “wonderful and powerful” it was. “The tempo of the comedy unique to the stage was also pleasant. I hope you all enjoy it,” Endo wrote.

In celebration of the musical’s opening, Endo uploaded a new Spy x Family illustration of Anya going to see the musical. Just before she heads in, though, something catches her eye: an enormous, blown-up poster of the Musical Spy x Family cast. Smack-dab in the middle are, not one, not two, but four Anyas and upon seeing four of her, Anya is shooketh to her core as expressed by the “Do–n”

Buoyed by the success of both the manga and the anime adaptation, a musical adaptation of Spy x Family was announced in April 2020. Win Morisaki and Hiroki Suzuki will portray Loid Forger, aka Twilight. Fūka Yuzuki and Mirei Sasaki, of J-Pop group Hinatazaka46, will play Yor Forger. And because two Anyas wouldn’t be enough, Musical Spy x Family opted to cast four child actors for the role, for maximum waku waku: Aoi Ikemura, Miharu Fukuchi, Miharu Izawa and Risa Masuda.

Other characters will make their musical debut such as Yuri Briar, portrayed by Kurumu Okamiya and Tsubasa Takizawa. Nonoka Yamaguchi will play Fiona Frost while Kento Kinouchi plays Franky Franklin. Taking on the roles of Henry Henderson and Sylvia Sherwood are Soma Suzuki and Manato Asaka, respectively.

The Spy x Family musical debuted in Tokyo’s Imperial Theatre on March 8 and will run until March 29. The stage play will travel to Hyogo Performing Arts Center Kobelco Grand Hall in April and the Hakataza Theater in Fukuoka in May.
