Shin Ye Eun Considering Lead Role for High School Queen Drama Adaptation

High School Queen is headed for a drama adaptation and they may have found their queen.

According to Naver, Shin Ye Eun has been offered the main lead role for the webcomic High School Queen. Her agency, npio Entertainment, revealed the actor was reviewing the offer but has not yet confirmed if she will accept it. Shin will reportedly play Kim Cheongha, a legendary Joseon warrior queen who awakens in the body of an introverted high school student named Park Dajin.

Production company Studio Dragon has plans to develop High School Queen into a long-form drama and said they want to “preserve the webtoon’s signature exhilarating action [and] further expand the romance that moves between the Joseon era and the present day.”

Written by critie with Nehae illustrating the manhwa, High School Queen launched on the English platform on January 1, 2025 and has 69 episodes as of this article’s writing. The series has garnered 6.3 million views.

WEBTOON describes the synopsis as below:

Cheongha Kim, a legendary swordswoman from the Joseon era, awakens centuries later in the body of Dajin Park, a quiet high school student. Armed with deadly combat skills, Cheongha must face school bullies, navigate the chaos of modern-day life, and find her place in a world far different from her own. The halls of Juwon High are about to meet a warrior unlike any they’ve seen before. 

Shin made her acting debut as Do Ha-na in the web series A-Teen and achieved international recognition as Ok Chan-mi in Revenge of Others and young Park Yeonjin in The Glory. Shin has won numerous awards including Best New Actress at the 2023 Blue Dragon Series Awards and the Excellence Acting Award at the 2023 APAN Star Awards for her role in Revenge of Others. She also won the Excellence Award in a Miniseries Romance/Comedy Drama at the 2023 SBS Drama Awards for her role as Yoon Dan-oh in The Secret Romantic Guesthouse.
