Released on January 12, Serenade explores the emotional arc of a romantic relationship—from its tender beginnings to its bittersweet end—through warm melodies and deeply relatable storytelling. Centered on the theme of everyday love, the album highlights the duo’s expressive vocal chemistry and emotional depth.
The lead single, “Blue,” portrays love moving at different paces, blending restrained piano melodies with sweeping orchestration. The song captures the quiet heartbreak that comes when two people slowly drift out of sync. Accompanying the track is a seven-minute cinematic music video starring Squid Game actress Yoo-mi Lee and actor Steve Sanghyun Noh, depicting the unraveling of a relationship shaped by emotional wounds and growing distance.
In addition to the title track, Serenade features a diverse lineup of songs that follow love’s progression. DK delivers his solo track “Rockstar,” a heartfelt expression of gratitude toward loved ones, while SEUNGKWAN’s “Dream Serenade” reflects on emotional closure and understanding. Both artists participated in writing and composing their respective solo tracks and contributed lyrics to the album’s final song.
The mini album also includes tracks such as the R&B pop song “Guilty Pleasure,” the poignant ballad “Silence,” and the pop rock closer “Prelude of Love,” which signals a new beginning after heartbreak. An epilogue version of the “Blue” music video is scheduled for release on January 19.
With Serenade, DxS further solidifies DK and SEUNGKWAN’s identities as vocalists, offering listeners an intimate and emotionally resonant experience that showcases their refined artistry and complementary tones.
