Seven Seas Unveils Gorgeous Cover of Ballad of Sword and Wine: Qiang Jin Jiu
Don’t let the “simplicity” of the cover deceive you; the cover of Ballad of Sword and Wine: Qiang Jin Jiu is packed with meaning.
Seven Seas has revealed the absolutely beautiful cover for the debut of Ballad of Sword and Wine: Qiang Jin Jiu. Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye are back-to-back with a tapestry of the nation’s landscape emblazoned. At the foreground are two hands holding wine cups with the thumb of one hand wearing a jade ring. Gold-like wine cascades down, pouring into one cup and dripping into the other.
The license was first announced in September 2023. XiA, Jia, and amixy will translate the novel while St (artist for The Husky and His White Cat Shizun and Remnants of Filth: Yuwu) will illustrate the interior art and cover art.
Written by Tang Jiuqing, Qiang Jin Jiu follows Shen Zechuan, the eighth son of the traitorous Prince of Jianxing who is dragged to the feet of Xiao Chiye, the longest son of the Prince of Libei. Xiao Chiye does his utmost best to crush Shen Zechaun but he survives, against all odds. As the two fight against the political world of the capital, they discover that they do not have to stand against each other as enemies but beside each other as allies, friends, and lovers.
The series also inspired a manhua adaptation which initially released on Aug. 15 before going on a sudden hiatus. After six months, Qiang Jin Jiu relaunched the manhua on Feb. 13 with a new art style and has released character key visuals for Xiao Chiye and Shen Zechuan. A chibi chapter was released in honor of Valentine’s Day. There are no announcements for an official English translation as of this article’s publication. An audio drama is available on MaoerFM with two seasons.
Ballad of Sword and Wine: Qiang Jin Jiu will be available on June 4, 2024.
