Well, hello, masked stranger. A new assassin takes center stage.
Seven Seas Entertainment unveiled the third volume cover of Joyful Reunion which features Duan Ling and Changliu-jun. Sporting a mask with gold detailing, the assassin looks formidable with a sword in hand. Porridge illustrated the cover while Ruthie supplies the interior illustrations. Mimi, Suika, and yunyun translated the danmei series.
Seven Seas’ synopsis for Vol. 3 is as follows:
After a narrow escape from the assassin Helan Jie, Duan Ling and Wu Du race back to Tong Pass to carry out their mission: eliminate the treacherous general Bian Lingbai and take control of the fortress on behalf of Southern Chen’s imperial court. Yet their task takes a perilous turn when enemy forces outside the pass, sensing weakness, seize the chance to launch an all-out attack. Duan Ling must use all his wits and everything he learned from his father to hold Tong Pass against the foreign invaders until help arrives.
At the same time, the closer Duan Ling grows to Wu Du, the harder he finds it to keep his true identity as the crown prince a secret. Duan Ling doesn’t want to lie anymore—but revealing too much now might not only jeopardize their mission, but drag them both into terrible danger.
Written by Fei Tian Ye Xiang, also known as Arise Zhang, Joyful Reunion follows Duan Ling who is whisked away to the capital of Liao Empire by Lang Junxia, who claims Duan Ling’s father had sent. Duan Ling, unwanted and mistreated by his late mother’s family for as long as he can remember, finds himself in unfamiliar territory when he discovers his true identity in a hostile political environment. Fei Tian Ye Xiang also wrote Legend of Exorcism and Dinghai Fusheng Records, both published by Seven Seas.
The third of the six-volume series will debut on January 20, 2026.
