Sentenced to Be a Hero Brings Its Epic Premiere to Lucca Comics & Games and AGF Korea 2025

The long-awaited anime adaptation of Sentenced to Be a Hero is finally making its grand debut—and it’s kicking things off with not one, but two major international events!

Following its world premiere at Lucca Comics & Games 2025 in Italy, the hit fantasy series will head to Korea for a special stage at Anime x Game Festival (AGF) 2025. Fans can look forward to seeing Jun Fukushima, the voice of Tsav, live on stage as he brings the world of Sentenced to Be a Hero to life.

The first episode of the series—a 60-minute extended special—is set to air in January 2026, following years of fan anticipation. The original light novel by Ryuugorou has already racked up impressive accolades, including first place in the User Recommendations category of the 2020 Kakuyomu Awards and second place overall in the Tsugirano Awards for up-and-coming light novels.

At its heart, Sentenced to Be a Hero tells the story of warriors who are forced to fight for humanity’s survival in exchange for their freedom—a dark twist on the typical hero narrative that has drawn readers and fans in since its debut.

Fans attending Lucca Comics & Games can catch the premiere screening at Auditorium San Girolamo on October 30 (Thursday) from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Then in Korea, the Sentenced to Be a Hero Special Stage will take place on December 7 (Sunday) from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. at KINTEX, featuring guest Jun Fukushima (CV: Tsav).

Whether you’re watching from Italy, Korea, or waiting for the official broadcast in January, the countdown to Sentenced to Be a Hero has officially begun—and it looks like this hero’s journey will be anything but ordinary.
