Seven Seas has launched their first Korean sci-fi thriller in English.

The publisher has revealed the cover for the first volume of Beacon of Light in the Dark Sea, written by Softcoral. This marks the first time Seven Seas has published a Korean novel in the sci-fi thriller genre. Their first Korean novel was Lout of Count’s Family, an action, comedy, isekai novel. The cover was designed by Ryeomi and the story was translated by Soyo Hong with a special thanks to Josh Shin.

The novel was originally published in 2022 by Munpia and contains 422 chapters. Beacon of Light in the Dark Sea was the grand prize winner in the webnovel category of the SF Awards in 2022 and the fantasy novel category in the 2022 and 2023 Ridi Awards.

Seven Seas describes the synopsis from the first volume:

Humanity’s hunger for resources has sent us where we were never meant to go—down into the crushing dark. The North Pacific International Undersea Station is a submerged labyrinth of labs, mining decks, and narrow living quarters where the sun never reaches.

Muhyeon, a dentist by trade, joins the station expecting routine work, but the eerie silence and the crew’s increasingly unstable behavior quickly prove him wrong. From quirky to unsettling, every encounter makes one truth impossible to ignore: the danger isn’t outside the station—it’s already here.

Vol. 1 of Beacon of Light in the Dark Sea comes out on May 26.
