Rosmei Licenses Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire and The Defectives

Two more Priest novels, Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire (Lie Huo Jiao Chou) and The Defectives (Can Ci Pin), have found their home with Rosmei.

Two more danmei novels join the international scene.

Rosmei has announced a duo of Priest danmei novels to their line-up. The publisher has licensed Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire (Lie Huo Jiao Chou) and The Defectives (Can Ci Pin). Previously, Rosmei announced another Priest novel, Liu Yao had been licensed, but the publisher has confirmed the official English title to be Coins of Destiny. All three novels will have the first volumes released sometime in 2024.

Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire (Lie Huo Jiao Chou) combines urban fantasy and mythology. The story follows Xuan Ji, a millennial who starts a new job at the Reparations Department of the Deviant Control Office and meets Sheng Lingyuan, a mysterious man who had died long ago and was inexplicably summoned back to the mortal world. As the two work together to unravel the mystery behind Sheng Lingyuan’s return, the two discover they share a past rife with conspiracy. SassyStrawberry will translate. He Zhi Shan Chuan (鹤止山川) will illustrate the artwork.

The Defectives (Can Ci Pin) is a sci-fi space opera novel. The story is set in a futuristic society ruled by the Eden System that removes pain and worry, but those who cannot be integrated into the system are cast out into the eighth galaxy. Lu Bixing, who comes from the eighth galaxy, falls in love with a gangster named B4. He later finds out that it’s Lin Jingheng, the commander of Silver Fortress. Mu and Xiao will work together to translate The Defectives. The artist will be announced at a later date.

Both Drowning Sorrows and The Defectives received a donghua adaptation. The former aired from October to December 2021 with 12 episodes on Funimation. The latter aired in 2021 with 16 episodes.

All three Priest books will be released in 2024.
