Award-winning manhwa Return of the Blossoming Blade will finally come back with a third season.
It has been almost three years since the conclusion of the second season of Returning of the Blossoming Blade and fans had been worried that a third season might not even happen. Fortunately, Season 3 is already underway. Luff Media, the publisher behind the original novel, announced that the studio has changed from Studio LICO to a new one. The production team from the first two seasons will be working on Season 3 under its new subsidiary, Studio ARCHE. In their statement, Studio ARCHE promised that Returning of the Blossoming Blade would be adapted to the end.
Studio LICO was one of the subsidiaries under Naver to join the labour protests against the parent company back in August 2025. Due to it being a subsidiary, the union established that Studio LICO was considered a subcontracting entity and therefore would receive a lower wage and fewer benefits in comparison to Naver employees. The studio argued that their “global incentives” should be counted toward their base pay and salary increases. Currently, Studio LICO only receives 60% of an incentive system that incorporates 80% of a stock grant program into the base pay. 600 union members from Naver’s six subsidiaries held a rally outside of Naver’s headquarters on August 12.
Biga wrote the webnovel back in April 2019 on Naver Webtoon where it currently is ongoing with more than 1,900 chapters. A manhwa adaptation with Studio LICO working on the artwork and writing was released on the Korean webtoon platform in March 2021 then three months later on the English webtoon platform. The manhwa won the Presidential Award in the cartoon category at the Korea Contents Awards in 2022.
