REPORT: Lee Jong Suk and Shin Min Ah to Star in Webtoon-Based Drama The Remarried Empress
Lee Jong Suk and Shin Min Ah will star in The Remarried Empress, a drama about Navier, an empress who remarries after her husband’s betrayal.
Lee Jong Suk and Shin Min Ah have been cast as the leads in the upcoming drama The Remarried Empress, based on the webcomic of the same name, according to a report from Naver shared on X (formerly Twitter). Lee Jong Suk will play Heinrey, the ruler of the Western Empire, while Shin Min Ah will portray Navier, the empress of the Eastern Empire.
Jo Soo-wan, known for Pinnochio, will direct the drama, and Studio N will produce it.
The Remarried Empress started as a webnovel by Alphatart, published on Naver. It was later adapted into a webcomic illustrated by Sumpul and published on WEBTOON. The series also includes an interactive story from Maybe: Interactive Stories.
A synopsis for the story follows:
“Navier Ellie Trovi was an empress perfect in every way — intelligent, courageous, and socially adept. She was kind to her subjects and devoted to her husband. Navier was perfectly content to live the rest of her days as the wise empress of the Eastern Empire. That is, until her husband brought home a mistress and demanded a divorce. “I accept this divorce… And I request an approval of my remarriage.” In a shocking twist, Navier remarries another emperor and retains her title and childhood dream as empress. But just how did everything unfold?”
