It has been two years since Purple Hyacinth last updated and one of the creators have left fans know that they’re still working on the webtoon.
Ephemerys, one of the co-creators behind Purple Hyacinth, recently posted on Instagram, reassuring fans that they were still working on Season 4. “We’ve been extremely thankful and touched to see that people are still awaiting the next update and that the fandom lives on.”

The writer explained that the second half of Season 3 “ended up growing into an entire new season. It is much longer and complex than the previous ones.” They hinted that plotlines that they had planned out prior to the story’s launch would see its fruition in Season 4. Both Ephemerys and Sophism, the artist of Purple Hyacinth, have decided to change their production methods to ensure their mental and physical health are prioritized.
“Without going into too many details, we’ve concluded that the best approach would be to have the season almost entirely written out and build up a larger buffer of drawn and finalized episodes before releasing them,” Ephemerys wrote.
“Don’t lose hope. We have not given up on Purple Hyacinth, and we absolutely intend to finish this story one way or another.” The writer ended with a heartfelt thank you to their readers, expressing excitement for the next part of the story.
Purple Hyacinth debuted on WEBTOON on May 20, 2019 with a unique aspect to enhance the webtoon-reading experience as it has songs accompanying select chapters. The series follows Lauren Sinclair, a police officer with a talent for detecting lies, who searches for the person responsible for the death of her loved ones. She teams up with a famed assassin named Kieran White, more commonly known as the Purple Hyacinth, to get to the truth. Purple Hyacinth has amassed 155.4 million views since, and concluded with a mid-season finale of Season 3 on February 27, 2023.
Fans can read Purple Hyacinth on WEBTOON to catch up on the series before the promised “drama, action, love, comedy, and truckload of SPICE.”
