Ebony Castle can now be read in English.

Publang, who primarily focuses on Korean BL novels and only recently started teasing the idea of manhwa licenses, had announced the licensing of Ebony Castle at SakuraCon back in April 2025 although it did not have a release window at the time of their announcement. The BL novel is a nameverse series–a type of subgenre where people have the name of their soulmates etched on their skin–and promises spice and angst. The novel, written by Seonmonhwa, was previously published by Beyond in 2021 in six compiled volumes.

The only other novel Publang has released since their four-novel license announcement is Paws and Claws, a shapeshifter but it’s likely the other two BL series, Beware the Ides of March and Cheon Choo Sae In will be coming out sometime this year. The publisher had previously published Semantic Error, Raw, Sahan, and Define the Relationship which was their first printed release.

Publang describes the novel:

The story follows concert pianist Yeon Dohwa who collapses on stage from name syndrome, a cruel curse that strips away his health and music. To survive, he finds the missing aristocrat whose name is etched into his body and whose touch can keep him alive, only to discover Tristan Locke is not suffering the same fate.

The webnovel inspired a manhwa adaptation that launched on Manta on April 8, 2025 with Season 1 concluding on September 6 with 27 episodes.

Ebony Castle is available to read on Publang with the first 10 episodes free to read.
