One Piece Anime Reboot Officially Announced
A One Piece anime reboot titled “The One Piece” has been officially announced.
Attention, Straw Hats! One Piece has officially announced it will receive a reboot, starting from the East Blue arc.
Titled The One Piece, the Wit Studio-produced reboot will stream on Netflix. Announced during Jump Festa 2024, promotional material, including a teaser visual, seen here posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) by AnimeTV, and a video were released.
The teaser video reveals that fans can expect a “fresh new remake” with an “all-new animation team” working on the production of the anime.
George Wada, president of Wit Studio, had this to say regarding the remake:
We need your help to excite everyone around the world once again with the classic story of ONE PIECE, a treasure of Japan. Are you ready to join our staff in this new adventure? We are currently recruiting new crew members for this project. We’re looking forward to your participation!”
The One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda began serialization in the summer of 1997. It has since gone on to become a global phenomenon, with an anime adaptation that has more than 1,000 episodes, a card game, 14 feature films and so much more. The series follows its protagonist Monkey D. Luffy as he embarks on his quest to find the “one piece” and become King of the Pirates. Along the way, he assembles his own motley crew of people that he’s befriended along the way, including the directionally impaired pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro and the money-obsessed Nami.
One Piece‘s reboot will begin with the East Blue arc, the beginning point of both the manga and original anime series. The One Piece will stream on Netflix, with no further information available at this time.
