On-Air to Go Off the WEBTOON Air in February

On-Air will be leaving WEBTOON at the beginning of next month.

WEBTOON posted a notice for On-Air, stating that the webcomic will be unavailable on the platform starting on February 2. An explanation has not been provided. The series has garnered over 2 million views since its launch on May 31, 2023.

Written and illustrated by Shim bokii, the is a single season spanning 51 episodes that concluded shortly after its launch, on August 14. In an afterword, the creator said On-Air was initially meant to be a short story comprised of only 30 episodes but during her research into the dangers of social media and putting your life online, the story got longer.

The synopsis on WEBTOON reads:

On social media, Ayeong Oh has a perfect life. Her vlogs on the popular video-sharing platform MeTube command the adoration of thousands of fans as she regularly posts vlogs with her loving boyfriend, Jihun. However, when Jihun abruptly breaks up with her and disappears one day, her livelihood and MeTube fame are threatened. As Ayeong struggles to maintain her online celebrity status and delves into the mystery behind Jihun’s disappearance, she gradually begins to uncover the sinister truth behind Jihun’s real identity. Will Ayeong manage to find out who her ex truly was, or will her obsession with fame consume her first?

Those who want to read the series will have to do so now on WEBTOON before it’s taken down. It is currently available to read by either paying coins or watching ads. A new English platform for On-Air has not been announced.
