If you were to look up the definition of “puppy top” in the dictionary, you’ll find a picture of Mignon pouting back at you.
Production company ABJ Company announced a print version of the manhwa adaptation of the BL aeni Mignon. Along with that, the company also announced there will be a new short video starring everyone’s favorite immortal vampire couple. A 45-second teaser for the new video was released with Mignon impatiently waiting for Youngwon to come home and reprimanding him for not coming home together. Youngwon appeases him by ruffling his hair and affectionately calling him a “brat,” but the cut transition shows how he might regret calling the fighter a brat later that night.
Another teaser shows Youngwon scolding Mignon for throwing his clothes all over the bed. Offended, Mignon promptly flops on the bed and rolls around to prove that he did not make a mess (he did) and that it’s a nest for him to get the doctor’s scent all over him.
The side story, two-volume manhwa, and the Mignon aeni which was compiled into a feature film will be available for purchase on Tumblbug, a crowdfunding platform available only in Korea, on February 10. There is no word yet if the manhwa and the 11-minute short can be found on other platforms such as Vimeo where the original 12-episode series was launched. All 19 episodes of the manhwa debuted on Ridibooks on January 31 and currently does not have an English translation.
Created by Bboong Bbang Kkyu, Mignon debuted on Aug. 11, 2023, and garnered praise for storytelling and animation quality. In only 12 short five to ten minute episodes, the fantasy animation follows a young rising boxer named Mignon who participates in illegal fights. Injuries are a given, thanks to his occupation, but he doesn’t have much to fear when he has Oh Youngwon, the mysterious and handsome doctor, caring for him. Mignon inadvertently discovers Youngwon’s secret and his world turns upside down. Oh Minhyeok voiced Mignon while Kim Minju voiced Oh Youngwon.
