Medalist has already announced its plans for when Season 2 concludes.
Kadokawa revealed that Medalist will have a film that will be set after the events of Season 2. It is unclear if this will be original material or if it will still be adapted from the manga. Additional details will be revealed at a later date. The film will premiere, as shown in the Season 2 visual, in 2027.

Written and illustrated by Tsurumaikada, Medalist follows a young girl named Inori Yuitsuka who secretly practices at her local ice rink in the hopes that she may become a world-class figure skater. At 11 years old, Inori is considered too old to begin seriously training for a career as a professional athlete. With her mother discouraging her from pursuing the sport, it seems like all the cards are stacked against her. One day, she meets Tsukasa Akeuraji, a former ice dancer, who offers to coach her after being inspired by her talent.
The manga won in the general category at the Shogakukan Manga Award. in 2023 and at the Kodansha Manga Award in 2024.
Medalist was flung into an anime adaptation by Studio ENGI in January 2025 with Yasutaka Yamamoto directing the first season. Season 1 spanned 13 episodes and featured figure skating choreography by Akiko Suzuki, Yuhana Yokoi, and Hinano Isobe. Rika Hongo and Suzuki will participate in the motion capture filming for Season 2. Hana will perform the opening theme song “Cold Night” while Conton Candy performs the ending theme song “Rookies.”
Season 2 of The Medallist premieres on January 24 on Disney+. The manga is available in English via Kodansha USA.
