Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume Enters Crunchyroll’s Streaming Door
Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume will hit Crunchyroll’s streaming platform on Nov. 16.
Acclaimed director Makoto Shinkai’s hit anime film Suzume will hit the Crunchyroll platform in a few days.
As announced on Crunchyroll, Makoto Shinkai’s latest film Suzume will be available for streaming starting on Nov. 16 at 5 PM PST. Viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe (excluding France), Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS will be able to stream the film.
Shinkai first came into international recognition when he wrote and produced the romance drama film Your Name which premiered in 2016 and grossed over $382 million worldwide and received several wards including Best Animated Feature at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards. His second film Weathering With You which premiered in 2019 similarly received critical acclaim and became the highest grossing Japanese film that year. It was nominated for four Annie Awards.
A coming-of-age tale, Suzume follows 17-year-old Suzume who must close all the doors scattered around Japan to avoid natural disasters with a a mysterious man named Souta Munakata. The film had its international premiered in February 2023 at the Berlin International Film Festival and has grossed over $323 million worldwide. Like its predecessors, Suzume has also garnered positive reviews but has also received criticism for its similarity in structure to Shinkai’s previous films.
Suzume streams on Crunchyroll on Nov. 16.
