there's something wrong with the chief vol 3

When the world is falling apart, the only ones you can trust is each other.

Seven Seas Entertainment unveiled the cover for Vol. 3 of There’s Something Wrong with the Chief, illustrated by Zolaida who will also illustrate the interior artwork. The cover is a departure from the first two volumes as Xiahou Lian and Xie Jinglan are both in armour, clutching at each other in sheer desperation, while their surroundings are aflame. Faelicy translates the series.

The fantasy danmei series, written by Yang Su, follows Xiahou Lian, the youngest assassin of the Qiye Garden enclave, who awaits his mission as he poses as the servant of Xie Jinglan, the youngest son of the Xie family. He unexpectedly forms a friendship with Xie Jinglan–a connection that puts him at odds with the Qiye Garden. When the two reunite years later–with Xiahou Lian now the most wanted man in the country and Xie Jinglan as the governor of the Easter Depot–things have changed and the secrets they kept and are still keeping may drive too big of a wedge for them to overcome.

Seven Seas describes Vol. 3:

After converging in the capital, Xiahou Lian and Shen Jue soon learn that the imperial court is no safer than the roads that brought them there. Power is shifting perilously, secrets are tightening around them, and Xiahou Lian’s attempts to protect himself through deception place him in unexpected danger.

Shaken by the fallout, the two dare to rebuild the bond they once lost. As Xiahou Lian gains a foothold in the Eastern Depot, he and Shen Jue are swept into a storm of treachery and enemies. A once-overlooked pawn has become a deadly adversary, and every step becomes a gamble with their lives.

As peril closes in from all sides, Xiahou Lian and Shen Jue must rely on the fragile trust they’ve only just begun to reclaim—because this time, it may be the only thing that keeps them alive.

Vol. 3 of There’s Something Wrong with the Chief comes out on May 5.
