Link Click has another live-action series in store.
FUJI TV has announced the popular time-traveling donghua Link Click will be adapted into a Japanese live-action television series. EXILE’s Sato Taiki and Kanata Hongo will star as Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang, respectively. This will be an international co-production with FUJI TV, Bilibili, and Tokai TV.
This isn’t the first time Link Click has been made into a live-action series. A Chinese adaptation premiered on June 19, 2024 for 24 episodes with Jiang Long and Bi Wenjun portraying Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang. Bu Guanjin portrayed Qiao Ling, the duo’s friend and landlady.
Originally a donghua conceived by Li Haoling, Link Click follows best friends Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang who run a photo studio where they help clients with their various regrets using their powers. With a simple high five, Cheng Xiaoshi is able to possess the person who took a photograph while Lu Guang has the ability to see what happened 12 hours after the photo has been taken. The donghua first premiered on Funimation, marking it as the streaming platform’s first donghua, and quickly rose to popularity with its unique plot and storytelling.
Link Click premiered on April 30, 2021 where the first season ran for 11 episodes. Season 2 premiered on July 14, 2023 for 12 episodes. A prequel season, titled “Bridon Arc,” launched with six episodes. A third season is set to premiere sometime this year.
The donghua has also inspired a manhua adaptation that launched on September 22, 2023 on Bilibili Comics. A musical and audio drama adaptation were also created with the former premiering on November 10, 2023 and the latter on November 10, 2022.
The Japanese live-action series of Link Click premieres on April 11. With Funimation’s merge with Crunchyroll, the donghua can be streamed there.
