Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 arrives on Netflix in August!
Kimi ni Todoke is coming to Netflix in August.
13 years have passed since Season 2 of Kimi ni Todoke but fans will have much to look forward to in the summer. Netflix unveiled the first trailer of Season 3 of Kimi ni Todoke, opening with Sawako’s confession to Shōta and two embarking on a romantic relationship. Sawako tentatively reaches out to Shōta but is too nervous to do so, but Shōta understands her feelings, meets her in the middle, and holds her hand.
The anime series has announced Miyuki Sawashiro (Bishamon from Noragami), Yuko Sanpei (Tsubasa Ōzora from Captain Tsubasa), Yūichi Nakamura (Tetsurō Kuroo from Haikyuu!!), Mamoru Miyano (Rin Matsuoka from Free! Iwatobi Swim Club), Yūki Ono (Taiga Kagami from Kuroko’s Basketball), and Aya Hirano (Misa Amane from Death Note) as Ayane Yano, Chizuru Yoshida, Ryū Sanada, Kento Miura, Kazuichi Arai, and Ume Kurumizawa, respectively.
Production. I.G will animate and produce the third season once more, with Kenichi Matsuzawa as the director, replacing Hiro Kaburaki from the first two seasons. Tomoko Konparu will reprise her role as the series scriptwriter, working with Michiko Yokote. S.E.N.S. Project will also return as the composer for the third season.
The story follows Sawako Kuronuma who is mercilessly ostracized due to her resemblance to Sadako Yamamura from The Ring. As a result, Sawako forgets how to understand others and express herself. One day, she meets Shōta Kazehaya, a popular boy in her class, under the cherry blossoms and helps him find his way. Intrigued and moved by her kind personality, Shōta begins talking to her, opening up her previously narrow world.
Written and illustrated by Karuho Shiina, Kimi ni Todoke began serialization in Bessatsu Margaret from 2005 to 2017. It currently has 30 tankōbon volumes and won several accolades includingBest Shōjo Manga award at the Kodansha Manga Award. The manga also received a nomination for he first Manga Taisho award in 2008.
The manga received an anime adaptation in October 2009 which ended in March 2010. A second season was green-lit in January 2011 and concluded in March 2011. In addition, Kimi ni Todoke has also inspired a live-action film adaptation which released in September 2010. A live-action television series premiered on March 30, 2023.
The first two seasons of Kimi ni Todoke are available on Crunchyroll. The third season streams on Netflix.
