Kakao Entertainment is giving webtoon creators a powerful new way to bring their stories to life with Helix Shorts AI Agent, a tool that automatically transforms comics into short-form videos.
The company announced on October 1, 2025, that Helix Shorts began rolling out to creators on September 29. The AI technology identifies key scenes from a webtoon and generates social-media-ready clips of about 40 seconds each—completely free for eligible creators.
Originally launched on April 22 as part of Kakao Page’s short-form video service, Helix Shorts initially adapted only select webtoons chosen by Kakao Entertainment. With the AI Agent, creators can now produce and share their own clips directly, giving them more control over promotion and audience engagement.
Currently, the tool is available to Kakao Page’s exclusive content production partners, with plans to expand access to a wider pool of creators in the near future. Completed videos can be shared across Kakao Page, partner websites, and YouTube, opening new opportunities to reach fans beyond the traditional webtoon format.
