Out of nowhere, Ize Press dropped a surprise licensing announcement during New York Comic Con 2025.
While Yen Press was holding its industry panel at New York Comic Con, Ize Press, its imprint that focuses and highlights Korean manhwa and novels, announced that it had licensed Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, the spin-off title of the highly popular original series Solo Leveling. The manhwa adaptation of the webnovel will be released in June 2026.

Solo Leveling, the original novel, was written by Chugong back in July 2016 and enjoyed success for its story about a weak E-rank Hunter named Sung Jinwoo. After narrowly escaping a double dungeon, Jinwoo discovers that he has become a Player in a System which allows him to power up with seemingly no ceiling in sight. But danger lies in the dungeon and beyond with Monarchs, rulers of the dark, seeking to destroy the world. And Jinwoo is the only one who can stop them.
The popularity of Solo Leveling shot to an all-time high and became one of KakaoPage’s top titles when a webcomic adaptation came with DUBU illustrating. The webcomic debuted in March 2018 and ended in December 2021. Initially, Solo Leveling launched on the English platforms, Tapas and Tappytoon, but over time, it has made its way onto Manta and Pocket Comics. Both the webnovel and manhwa have been licensed for a print release by Yen Press and Ize Press.
An anime adaptation, produced by A-1 Pictures, was released in January 2024 with Season 2 airing just a year later. The anime swept the Crunchyroll Anime Awards which includes “Anime of the Year,” “Best Action,” “Best Score,” “Best Main Character,” and “Best Ending Sequence.” A third season has not yet been announced.
After the webcomic’s conclusion, a spin-off called Solo Leveling: Ragnarok was announced with a different author, Daul, set to write who Chugong fully supported. Ragnarok turns the spotlight onto Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In’s son, Sung Suho. Sometime in his childhood, Suho’s parents disappeared without an explanation–a fact Suho has accepted as part of his life. But when Gates start popping up, Suho realizes that he inherited quite a legacy from his father and must now use his newfound powers as a Hunter to save the world and find his parents.
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok can be read digitally on Tapas for both the webnovel and manhwa adaptation.
