Inklore has made two exciting manhwa announcements on their Instagram account.
The manhwa/manhua/webcomics/graphic novels imprint of Random House Worlds has licensed two historical manhwa series. The popular historical GL series Her Tale of Shim Chong will hit bookshelves sometime in spring 2027. The Red Sleeve, a historical romance, will release a little later, sometime in summer 2027.
Written by seri and illustrated by biwan, Her Tale of Shim Chong launched on WEBTOON on March 27, 2025 and concluded with 81 chapters of the main story and three side stories. The series has garnered 1.1 million views as of this article’s writing. WEBTOON describes the story:
Based on a Korean folktale, two very different women find themselves making the same wish – to leave this world behind. One is Shim Chong, a young beggar living off the kindness of others to support herself and her blind father. The other is the bride-to-be of old Chancellor Jang, sold off to him for the sake of her family. When Shim Chong rescues this new bride from the river, their relationship triggers both love and hidden intentions. But will these two women be able to find their way forth in a world that favors men?
Her Tale of Shim Chong was awarded with “Today’s Our Manhwa Award” by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korea back in 2018.
Written by Kang Mikang and illustrated by CreativeSUMM with Dopamine handling the adaptation with Lee Ji Young, The Red Sleeve launched on Tapas on May 9, 2022 and concluded with the first season on November 4, 2024. The series is currently on hiatus although there has been no word of a return as of this article’s writing. The series has garnered more than 677,000 views on Tapas. The platform describes the story:
