daughter of a thousand faces vol 1

Daughter of a Thousand Faces will be released in the summer.

Inklore, the imprint for manhua, manhwa, and webcomics for Penguin Random House, unveiled the cover for the first volume of the Eisner-nominated webcomic series Daughter of a Thousand Faces, written and illustrated by Velinxi. The series was also recently nominated for Best Webcomic at the 2025 Ringo Awards. The cover features the protagonist Shen Yuhua, turned slightly to the side, as she holds a mask. In the background are the numerous faces that Yuhua had donned as part of her face-changing ability.

Inklore has provided the official synopsis:

Shen Yuhua is the disgrace of her clan. She inherited none of her immortal father’s powers, she’s been rejected by more than twenty suitors, and her mother was executed for treason. With no one but her bumbling servant Swallowtail on her side, Yuhua seems destined to live in shame and obscurity.

Her world turns upside down when she encounters Chu Tian, the fearsome Demon with a Thousand Faces—and accidentally frees him from the abyss where her father imprisoned him decades ago. Even worse, she’s forced to become his disciple. Can Yuhua finally develop powers that will make her a warrior worthy of the Shen name, or will her new teacher become her greatest downfall?

Velinxi is quite known in the danmei/baihe (Chinese for boys’ love and girls’ love) as she was also the cover artist for the English version of the danmei novel series The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System and the baihe novel series The Beauty’s Blade.

Daughter of a Thousand Faces is still ongoing and currently has 87 chapters on Tapas. Covering the first twenty episodes of the webcomic, the first volume of the English print version comes out on August 25, 2026.
