Streaming platform HIDIVE has announced it will simulcast Season 3 of Oshi no Ko.
As it did for the first two seasons, HIDIVE will stream Oshi no Ko at the same time as it airs in Japan. The season will be available to subscribers in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The anime will also be streaming on Crunchyroll.
When the first season premiered in April 2023, it became HIDIVE’s most successful premiere in its history and received numerous accolades such as YOASOBI’s opening theme song “Idol” reaching the top of Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. charts and “Song of the Year” at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan. The second season also received nominations at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards including “Best Continuing Series.”
Based on Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s manga series, Oshi no Ko follows Gorou Amamiya, an OBGYN, who has been tasked to deliver pop idol Ai Hoshino’s children without anyone knowing. On the day Ai is supposed to give birth, Gorou is killed and he’s reborn as Ai’s son, Aqua. His twin sister, Ruby, is also a reincarnation of Sarina Tendoji, a terminally ill patient of Gorou’s who was also a super fan of Ai. For a few years, the three live happily with each other until a crazed fan tracks the family down and kills Ai. Determined to avenge his and Ai’s death, Aqua enters the entertainment industry to track down the murderer–his and Ruby’s biological father.
The anime was animated and produced by Studio Doga Kobo. CHANMINA will perform the opening theme song “Test Me” while natori will perform the ending theme song “Serenade.”
The popularity of the anime and manga has led to a live-action film and television series adaptation which premiered in December and November 2024, respectively.
The synopsis for Season 3 comes from HIDIVE:
The story enters a new stage… Six months have passed since the release of “POP IN 2.” Thanks to MEMcho’s efforts, B-Komachi is now on the verge of a breakthrough. Aqua is steadily progressing as a multi-talented artist and Akane is on her way to becoming a skilled actress. Meanwhile, Kana has lost her former cheerful demeanor. And Ruby is climbing the ranks of the entertainment industry while pursuing the truth behind the deaths of Ai and Gorou — using lies as a weapon.
Oshi no Ko Season 3 will stream on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE on January 14. The manga is published by Yen Press.
