HIDIVE is kicking off Winter 2026 with a hardcore new addition to its simulcast lineup—HELL MODE: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing. Based on the hit light novel series by Hamuo, the upcoming isekai anime will stream exclusively on HIDIVE beginning this January for viewers in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Before its streaming debut, HELL MODE will make its North American premiere at Anime Frontier 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas, giving fans an early look at Episode 1. HIDIVE also released the official English-subtitled trailer, teasing the series’ over-the-top action and game-inspired fantasy world.
“Fans will not want to miss a minute of this exciting new isekai action anime when it premieres as an exclusive simulcast series on HIDIVE in January,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “HELL MODE is sure to be a hit with audiences this winter.”
A Gamer’s Ultimate Challenge
The series follows Kenichi Yamada, a 35-year-old MMORPG addict who’s grown bored with easy games. When he finally discovers one with a true “Hell Mode” difficulty, he jumps in—only to wake up inside the game itself, reborn as Allen, the child of a poor farming family. Armed with his gaming instincts and memories from his past life, Allen must master the mysterious Summoner class, survive the world’s brutal mechanics, and uncover the truth behind his new reality.
From Web Novel to Anime
Originally launched in 2019 on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, HELL MODE quickly gained popularity for its strategic RPG elements and grounded take on the isekai genre. The light novel, published under Earth Star Novel, currently spans 12 volumes and inspired a manga adaptation that began in 2020.
English versions of both the light novel and manga are available digitally through J-Novel Club, with the print edition of the light novel published by Yen Press.
