Heaven Official’s Blessing Recasts Xie Lian’s VA for Season 2

As Heaven Official’s Blessing Hua Cheng would say: “What matters is ‘you’ and not the state of you.”

Tian Guan Ci Fu revealed, via Weibo, the donghua had replaced Jiang Guangtao, who voiced Xie Lian in the first season, due to “personal reasons.” Deng Youxi will replace him for the role. On his personal Weibo account, Deng wrote, “I will do my best to record this role well!”

Jiang’s removal from the donghua is likely due to his arrest in late 2022 for embezzlement. A Reddit translation indicated the voice actor was in custody for misappropriating $2 million of public funds. His arrest resulted in his termination with his studio Houlang Studio.

Deng has portrayed numerous characters in audio drama adaptations of popular danmei works. He has played roles in Fanservice Paradox, Why are the Protagonist Gong and Shou Fighting Over Me, I Love You for a Millenia and Here U Are. He has also voiced Mika in Genshin Impact.

When news broke out about Jiang’s arrest, many fans were worried about the status of Season 2 of Heaven Official’s Blessing. However, the recasting of Xie Lian for the donghua has left fans hopeful they may see the Flower Crown Martial God and his Crimson Rain Sought Flower soon.

Season 1 of the donghua, produced by Haoliners Animation League, follows Xie Lian’s third ascension into the heavens, much to the dismay of the other gods. Once the beloved and much adored Crown Prince of Xian Le and darling of the heavens, Xie Lian has now become the laugh stock of all three realms. When he descends into the human realm to investigate a case involving missing brides, he happens across a man dressed in blood-red who may be Xie Lian’s most devoted believer.
