On Haikyuu!! day (Aug. 19), Ayumu Murase and Kaito Ishikawa held a livestream where they revealed the title of Part 1 of the Haikyuu!! FINAL film series. Haikyu!! THE MOVIE – Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump will feature the long-awaited match-up between Karasuno and Nekoma. Production I.G will return to animate and produce the film.

Introduced in the first season, the Battle of the Garbage Dump is a nickname bestowed upon the rivalry between Karasuno High School and Nekoma High School. The two schools never had the opportunity to play against each other in an official match and could only play each other in practice matches where Karasuno has lost nearly every single match.
