The dark moon won’t be limited to Crunchyroll anymore.
Dark Moon: The Blood Altar, the anime adaptation of the ENHYPEN-inspired webtoon, is set to premiere on Crunchyroll on January 9. ENGENEs in Japan will be happy to know that, as per Naver, the anime will also stream on Netflix Japan and Hulu Japan just a few days later on January 13.

This is the first HYBE/WEBTOON produced webcomic that has been turned into an anime. CloverWorks previously had created animated shorts for two other HYBE/WEBTOON series, TXT’s The Star Seekers and BTS’s 7FATES: CHAKHO. The animation studio did not do a short for Dark Moon: The Blood Altar.
Animated and produced by Troyca with Shoko Shiga at the helm as director, ENHYPEN will also participate as the opening and ending theme song singers. “One in a Billion (Japanese ver.)” will serve as the opening with “Criminal Love” and “Fatal Trouble” alternating as the ending theme songs.
Amassing over 200 million views, Dark Moon: Blood Altar stands as the most viewed HYBE Original Story Webtoons and has been translated into 10 different languages. The series has 65.7 million views alone on the English platform. A spin-off prequel called Dark Moon: The Grey City features a different boy group, &Team. A sequel called Dark Moon: Two Moons was released on November 28.
The synopsis on Ize Press is as follows:
The seven most popular boys at Decelis Academy all share a secret—they’re vampires. Keeping their identities concealed and dealing with their werewolf rivals is trouble enough, but the appearance of a mysterious new student only further complicates things. The girl, Sooha, also has hidden powers, and the boys can’t help but feel an inexplicable attraction to her. As Sooha and the vampires find themselves increasingly drawn toward each other, murky pasts and intertwined futures threaten to turn their world upside down. Just what fate awaits them under the dark moon…?
ENGENEs and webtoon fans can read the series Dark Moon: The Blood Altar on WEBTOON. The licenses for the print version of both the webcomic and novel are held by Ize Press.
