Indie publisher Rosmei has revealed the cover of Vol. 1 of danmei series Nan Chan. The title’s font utilizes the fish motive, employing scales, fins and waves of water. Cang Ji holds Jing Lin in his arms, one hand toying with the white ribbon tying his hair. A hint of fish scales can be seen on his arm. The background of the novel indicates night time with the stars sporadically dotting the sky. The artist will be revealed once the preorders begin.
Written by Tang Jiuqing (t97), Nan Chan follows a powerful deity named Jing Lin who is presumably killed for murdering the Emperor of Heaven. However, Jing Lin managed to survive the assassination attempt and has hidden himself away atop a mountain to recover, along his brocade carp Cang Ji who has an all-consuming desire to devour Jing Lin. The two descend the mountain and encounter the Eight Sufferings, a Buddhist concept that denotes eight sufferings of life that everyone must go through such as birth, old age, sickness, death, parting with loved ones, encountering hated ones, inability to fulfill wishes and the inability to let things go.
The first volume will release sometime in spring 2024.
