Dandadan’s Eclectic Teaser Prove the Existence of Aliens and Ghosts

Dandadan’s first teaser highlights Science Saru’s unique animation style.

The first teaser for Dandadan has been dropped.

The teaser for Dandadan features the first meeting between Okarun and Momo Ayase who make a bet with each other to disprove the other’s respective supernatural phenomenon. Momo discovers that aliens really do exist, and Okarun realizes ghosts are very much real. The weirdness doesn’t stop there as the two become more entangled in the supernatural world when they discover they have some powers of their own. The teaser highlights Science Saru’s unique animation and coloring style, promising a fun and enjoyable anime to watch out for.

Acclaimed animation studio Science Saru will animate and produce Dandadan with Fūga Yamashiro as the director. Hiroshi Seko will supervise and write the script with kensuke ushio composing the music. Naoyuki Onda signs on as the character designer with Yoshimichi Kameda designing all things supernatural.

Dandadan has also welcomed Shion Wakayama (Lycoris Recoil‘s Takina Inoue) as Momo Ayase who believes in ghosts but not aliens, Natsuki Hanae (Demon Slayer‘s Tanjiro Kamado) as the nerdy Okarun who believes in aliens but not ghosts. Mayumi Tanaka (One Piece‘s Luffy) will voice Turbo-Granny and Kazuya Nakai (One Piece‘s Zoro) as Alien Serpo.

Written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu, Dandadan revolves around two individuals who believe in two outrageous but very different things. Ayase Momo lives with her spirit medium grandma and wholeheartedly believes ghosts exist. On the other side Ken Takakura, later on dubbed as Okarun by Momo, believes that aliens exist but is less convinced on the existence of ghosts. The two make a bet on who is more correct and discover that they’re both more right than they thought: aliens and ghosts exist! And these supernatural entities want some very, very private things from Momo and Okarun.

Dandadan is available to read online on Shōnen Jump+. The anime premieres in October 2024.
