More Chainsaw Man is coming with the series adapting the next arc called the “Assassins Arc.”
At Jump Festa ’26, MAPPA revealed that they will be adapting the “Assassins Arc” and unveiled the teaser poster and PV. It is unclear whether this would be an anime season or a movie. In the center is Denji whose hands are bound. He’s surrounded by various assassins including Santa Claus, Quanxi, and the eldest brother of the American assassins. In the background is a very familiar eye: Makima, who is always watching.

Based off of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s bestselling manga series, Chainsaw Man follows a teenager named Denji who is struggling to pay off his dead father’s debt by killing devils with his best friend Pochita. But when the yakuza betray him and leave him for dead, Pochita sacrifices himself and merges with Denji to save him, thus turning Denji into the Chainsaw Devil. Soon after, Denji gets recruited to the Public Safety Division and becomes reluctant colleagues with Aki and Power. The manga’s first part, titled “Public Safety Arc” ran from March 2019 to March 2021 and transitioned to introduce a new character named Asa Mitaka in the second part called the “School Arc.”
Chainsaw Man has won the Harvey Award for “Best Manga” from 2021 to 2023 and has earned acclaim from critics about the writing, humor, world-building, and themes.
Season 1 of the anime adaptation was directed by Ryu Nakayama although it received mixed reviews from fans and even sparked a petition to change the director. The first season contained 12 episodes and aired from October to December 2022. News about the anime’s continuation was not forthcoming despite the massive popularity the manga had.
MAPPA announced the next arc, “Reze Arc,” would be adapted into a movie with Tatsuya Yoshihara replacing Nakayama as the director. The film released in Japan on September 19, 2025 and then later on October 24 in the U.S. and Canada, and has grossed over $175 million worldwide. The studio has not confirmed if Yoshihara will be directing the next arc.
Chainsaw Man is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
