Bato.to, one of the world’s largest manga piracy aggregation sites, has shut down following mounting legal pressure. Alongside the site’s closure, its official Discord server has also been deleted.
According to traffic estimates from Similarweb, Bato.to and its associated mirrors collectively drew well over 100 million monthly visits, making it one of the most heavily trafficked piracy platforms in the global manga space.
Shortly after the shutdown, a moderator from the now-defunct Discord server shared a statement explaining that the staff had “collectively decided to delete this server due to ongoing issues related to the site and resulting legal challenges.” The message also encouraged readers to support creators through official platforms whenever possible.
Bato.to’s closure follows a broader crackdown on large-scale manga piracy sites. In recent months, MangaDex—previously reporting around 70 million visits in April 2025—and Comick, which peaked at approximately 125 million visits in August 2025, have also ceased operations amid legal scrutiny.
In the Discord announcement, staff members acknowledged the community that had formed around the platform and noted that some moderators plan to establish a new, legally focused reading community in the future. The server was scheduled for deletion within days of the announcement.
As of now, Bato.to’s site and official mirrors remain inaccessible, marking the end of one of the most prominent piracy hubs in the manga ecosystem.
