Jujutsu Kaisen Unveils New PV, Director and July Release Date for Season 2
Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen has revealed a new trailer and will premiere on July 6.
Jujutsu Kaisen has dropped its first PV in anticipation of its Season 2 premiere in July 2023.
During Anime Japan 2023, Jujutsu Kaisen revealed its official PV for the upcoming second season. Season 2 will adapt the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” and “Shibuya Incident” arcs for two consecutive cours. Shōta Goshozono, who has directed a few episodes from the first season, will come on as the director for the second season, replacing Sunghoo Park who worked on Season 1 and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Takehito Koyasu will voice Toji Fushiguro and Anna Nagase will portray Riko Amanai.
The PV sends Gojo Satoru, the powerful sorcerer and teacher of Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, back to 2006 when he was still a student and best friends with Geto Suguru. The PV showcases the friendship between Gojo, Geto and Riko Amanai. The trailer splits time to depict both the slice-of-life vibes of the friends hanging out with each other and the fierce fights between Gojo and Toji Fushiguro, the father of Megumi Fushiguro.
Jujutsu Kaisen also unveiled a new key visual earlier in the day, showcasing a young Gojo and Geto, both laughing and carefree while the world explodes around them in a shower of glass and debris.
Despite having been removed from several projects, including The Medicine Seller, Takahiro Sakurai appears to be continuing his role as Geto Suguru. Sakurai had previously been embroiled in a extramarital affair scandal when it was revealed he had been involved with at least three other women for 10 years.
Written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular best-selling manga series with over 70 million copies as of August 2022. The series launched in Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2018 with the mangaka hinting that the series might be wrapping up sometime in 2023. MAPPA produced the anime adaptation with Season 1 released in October 2020 and the prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0 releasing in December 2021.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen premieres on July 6. Season 1 and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
