J.C. Staff Returns for One-Punch Man Season 3

J.C. Staff will return to animate and produce the third season of One-Punch Man.

Contrary to all the rumors, One-Punch Man will once again be animated and produced by J.C. Staff.

One-Punch Man released a “special announcement” video for Season 3 featuring Garou fighting fiercely before transitioning to Saitama’s origin story. Narrated by Daisuke Namikawa who portrays Dr. Genus, the trailer poses a question: “How will Saitama who has exceeded his Limiter face Garou who is close to exceeding his?” A new key visual was also released with the promise of more hero visuals releasing every month.

Aside from Namikawa, Makoto Furukawa will once again voice Saitama and Hikaru Midorikawa as Garou. The director has not yet been announced as of this article’s publishing.

Chikashi Kubota will reprise his role as the character designer with Shinjiro Kuroda and Ryōsuke Shirakawa. Tomohiro Suzuki will oversee the series composition while Makoto Miyazaki composes.

Originally written by One as a webcomic manga, One-Punch Man underwent a remake with Yusuke Murata as the illustrator. The manga released on Tonari no Young Jump in June 2012 and has sold over 30 million copies worldwide as of April 2020. The story follows a bald 25-year-old man named Saitama who has the ability to win his fights with a single punch and has a training routine of doing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10 km run. Every. Single Day.

The series received an anime adaptation with Madhouse animating and producing the first season in October 2015 and Shingo Natsume directing. Under Natsume’s direction, the first season garnered praise. When One-Punch Man moved to J.C. Staff for Season 2, the critical acclaim dropped significantly with many of the criticisms aimed at the poor animation quality.

There is currently no release date announced for Season 3. The manga is available to read via Viz Media.
