Yu Yu Hakusho releases a supernaturally good trailer for its live-action ahead of its Dec. 14 premiere on Netflix.
The trailer opens up at the scene of an accident with the lead character, Yusuke Urameshi, looking down at his own body, questioning whether he’s dead. In the next scene, Koenma, the leader of the spirit world, reveals he’s bringing Yusuke back to life in exchange for being a Spirit Detective, followed by a montage of action-packed clips. Excitingly, the trailer showed a number of important characters aside from Yusuke and Koenma, including Botan, Kurama, Hiei and Keiko.
Yu Yu Hakusho began as a manga written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, which ran from 1990 to 1994 in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine. It tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who dies in an accident while trying to save a child. The leader of the spirit world, Koenma, makes a deal with Yusuke to bring him back to life on the condition that he becomes a Spirit Detective, solving cases that involve demons and paranormal entities in the human world.
The Yu Yu Hakusho live-action will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 14.
