Mo Dao Zu Shi Audio Drama Drops Surprise Extra Episode

After almost four years since Season 3’s conclusion, the audio drama adaptation of Mo Dao Zu Shi has surprised fans with a new extra episode.

It may be Mo Dao Zu Shi‘s Wei Wuxian’s birthday today but it’s the fans who are receiving gifts.

Much to everyone’s delight and shock, the audio drama for Mo Dao Zu Shi updated with a new mini theater called 入梦 终 which adapts the second part of the “Incense Burner” from the novel. A new artwork, illustrated by @/spoonbalaba), accompanies the mini theater, featuring Wei Wuxian teasing a young Lan Wangji by tilting his future husband’s chin up with Chenqing. Fans have noted the length of the episode is exactly 10 minutes and 31 seconds long, which matches Wei Wuxian’s birthday.

The audio drama features the voice acting talents of Lu Zhixing who voices Wei Wuxian and Wei Chao who voices Lan Wangji. The audio drama has three seasons with Season 1 premiering in June 2018 for 12 episodes with several mini theater episodes. Season 2 premiered in October 2018 with 16 episodes and with several mini theater episodes. Season 3 premiered in June 2019 for 17 episodes, concluding in November 2019. Many fans have lauded the audio drama of being the most accurate to the novel series, praising the voice actors. The series has earned over 600 million playbacks as of January 2023, being the top 3 most listened to series on Miss Evan.

Shortly after the audio drama, Mo Dao Zu Shi also received a donghua adaptation in July 2018. The first season aired for 15 episodes until October 2018. The second season aired for 8 episodes from Aug. 3 to 31 in 2019. The final season aired from August to October 2021 for 12 episodes. A chibi series called Mo Dao Zu Shi Q aired for 30 episodes from July 2020 to January 2021.

Based on the New York Times-best selling novel series by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, Mo Dao Zu Shi follows the brilliant, but unconventional, cultivator Wei Wuxian who becomes the most detested and feared cultivator after choosing the path of demonic cultivation. 13 years after his death, it seemed like the world had gone into a period of peace until he returns to the world of the living via summoning. Although Wei Wuxian had every intention to live peacefully without drawing attention to himself, a case about a ghost arm pulls him back into events from 13 years ago…and the man whom he once thought was his enemy.

Mo Dao Zu Shi donghua is available to watch on Viki and YouTube while the audio drama is accessible through Miss Evan. The novel series has been translated by Seven Seas Entertainment with the publisher releasing the manhua adaptation as well.
