Omniscient Readers’ Viewpoint Rumored Cast Includes Jisoo and Nana

The cast for the film adaptation of Omniscient Readers’ Viewpoint is growing to be an all-star one.

As reported by Soompi, BLACKPINK’s oldest member Jisoo has been offered a role to star in Omniscient Readers’ Viewpoint as Lee Jihye, the girl Yoo Joonghyuk takes under his wing. YG Entertainment revealed the singer/actor was “reviewing [the offer] positively.” Soloist and actor Nana, who recently earned acclaim for her portrayal in Mask Girl, has also received an offer to play Jung Heewon, an extremely strong fighter who joins Kim Dokja’s party.

Earlier in May, Ahn Hyoseop and Lee Minho both received offers to star in the live-action film with Ahn as the protagonist Kim Dokja and Lee as the protagonist of the novel Dokja was reading Yoo Joonghyuk. Jung Sungil (The Glory) and Park Hosan (The Penthouse: War in Life) have been offered unspecified roles. Chae Soobin has received an offer to play Yoo Sangah, a woman who used to work with Dokja in the same company. Shin Seungho (Alchemy of Souls) has received an offer to play the earnest and straightforward Lee Hyunsung. As of this article’s publication, no actor has confirmed accepting their preferred roles.

Both the announcement of the film adaptation and the reported casting list have caused a rift between fans as many did not feel a live-action adaptation would do justice to the more fantastical elements of the story and undermines the premise of Omniscient Readers’ Viewpoint and felt the casting did not fit the characters.

Produced by Realies Pictures, who previously produced Along with the Gods series, Kim Byun Woo, who directed The Terror Live, will direct the film adaptation. Previously, Naver had reported in October 2020, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint will receive five movie adaptations, five drama seasons and numerous animation projects. No other announcements have been made regarding the other projects.

Based on a novel written by singNsong, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint follows Kim Dokja who is the only reader who has stuck with the novel Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse for 10 years. When he reaches the ending, Kim Dokja receives a mysterious message from the author. Suddenly, the novel becomes a reality and he must now harness his knowledge of the book to navigate the events and survive. He teams up with the novel’s protagonist Yoo Joonghyuk in the hopes the two may be able to change the original novel’s plot.
