Heaven Official’s Blessing Celebrates the Year of the Rabbit With New Art

Heaven Official’s Blessing‘s Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are ringing in the lunar new year with an adorable new artwork.

Posted by the official Tian Guan Ci Fu Twitter account, the artwork, illustrated by Gearous, features Hualian, the couple name for Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, out in the snow. Xie Lian has his hood up to protect him from the falling snow. Despite how cold his hands must be from holding the two snowmen, he has a gentle smile on his face as he gazes up at Hua Cheng. The snowmen are also representative of the couple with the ferret to symbolize Xie Lian and the fox for Hua Cheng. With a tender expression on his face, Hua Cheng gives the snow-fox a red umbrella to shield the snow-ferret from the snow. In stark contrast against the snowy background are the red strings tied around their fingers. To mark the year of the rabbit, small rabbit ears are penned atop the Chinese character for “rabbit.”

Gearous first started out as a fan artist, sharing artwork for Yuri on Ice!!! in 2016. Since then, they have illustrated fan art for various other series such as Haikyuu!!, Spy x Family, Inuyasha and Jujutsu Kaisen. Aside from Heaven Official’s Blessing, Gearous has also drawn fan art for other Chinese danmei such as Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System and The Husky and His White Cat Shizun. They are currently drawing the official artwork for Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heaven Official’s Blessing.

Written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu in June 2017, Tian Guan Ci Fu is the author’s longest work thus far with 244 chapters and eight extras. The story follows Xie Lian who has ascended to godhood for the third time in his 800 years of life. Although none of the gods take him seriously since Xie Lian is no longer the respected crown prince he once was in his past life and collects scraps for a living, Xie Lian still remains gentle and kind, and is always trying to help those in need. One day, during one of his descents to the mortal realm, Xie Lian meets a mystery red-robed man. Unbeknownst to him, that man is one of the four ghost kings, Hua Cheng, otherwise known as “Crimson Rain Sought Flower.” A donghua adaptation was released in 2020 with a second season tentatively set to air in the latter half of 2023.

The English translation of the Heaven Official’s Blessing novels are available to read on Seven Seas Entertainment with the manhua on Bilibili. Fans can stream the donghua on Netflix and Funimation.
