Oshi no Ko Manga Takes Short One-Week Break
How will Aqua answer Ruby’s shocking declaration? Oshi no Ko fans will have to wait until July 19 when Chapter 124 comes out to see.
Oshi no Ko will take a short break before resuming with Chapter 124.
Recent developments in the Oshi no Ko manga have kept readers on the edge of their seats and Chapter 123 “Bad Move” was no different. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little while longer to see Aqua’s response to Ruby’s earth-shattering declaration. Oshi no Ko will take a one week break next week on July 12 and return with Chapter 124 on July 19.
Written by Aka Akasaka, who also wrote Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, who created Scum’s Wish, Oshi no Ko began serialization in Weekly Young Jump since April 2020 and currently has 11 tankōbon volumes as of March 2023. The manga received an anime adaptation in April 2023 and became the biggest launch on its streaming platform HIDIVE. During its broadcast, the manga grew from five million copies to 12 million copies in circulation.
Produced by Dogs Kobo with Daisuke Hiramaki at the helm as the director, the anime was extremely well-received. The opening song “Idol,” sung by YOASOBI, broke numerous records, including a Billboard record when it landed in the top spot on the Billboard Global Charts, excluding the United States, making it the first time a song, originally performed in Japanese, topped the chart.
The beginning of Oshi no Ko introduces Gorou Amamiya, a gynecologist, who gets the shock of his life when he meets his next patient, his favourite idol, 16-year-old Ai Hoshino. After overcoming his surprise, he agrees to help deliver her babies in secret. On the day she was to give birth, Gorou is killed by Ai’s stalker and wakes up to find himself as one of Ai’s twin babies Aqua. Unbeknownst to him, his twin sister Ruby is also the reincarnation of one of Gorou’s past patients who was also a huge fan of Ai. The three live happily together for a few years before Ai’s stalker returns and kills her. Fuelled by rage, Aqua vows to take revenge for his and Ai’s deaths.
