Tapas Licenses Solo Leveling and Spin-Off Sequel Novels

Not only is the Solo Leveling anime premiering, fans will be able to read the original novel and spin-off on Jan. 6.

Solo Leveling fans will be able to read the original novel series very soon.

Tapas has announced a slew of new releases to start 2024 off with a bang. Amongst the number of new manhwa and webcomics, the platform revealed Chugong’s original novel Solo Leveling and the spin-off sequel series Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, which stars Sung Jinwoo’s son, will be available to read on Jan. 6, 2024.

Solo Leveling began serialization on KakaoPage in July 2016 before moving to D&C Media’s Papyrus label in November 2016. The novel received a webcomic adaptation by DUBU and remains one of the most popular action webcomics. The story follows Sung Jinwoo’s journey of becoming the strongest Hunter in the world after he accepts the System’s offer in becoming a Player following his near-death experience. He soon gets thrown into a war against the Monarchs as the powerful beings seek to wipe out the human race. The webcomic ran from March 2018 to December 2021.

KakaoPage revealed a spin-off series called Solo Leveling: Ragnarok which features Jinwoo’s son Sung Suho. The webcomic launched on April 10, 2023 with Daul penning the spin-off. Ragnarok released 105 chapters on its first day.

An anime adaptation, produced by A-1 Pictures, is set to premiere in January 2024. Shunsuke Nakashige will direct, Noboru Kimura presides as the head writer with Tomoko Sudo as the character designer and Hiroyuki Sawano as the composer. K-Pop band TXT and acclaimed composer Hiroyuki Sawano perform the opening theme song “LEveL.” krage will perform the ending theme song “request.”

The anime adaptation of Solo Leveling unleashes on Jan. 6, 2024, on the same day the novels release. Crunchyroll streams the anime. The physical volumes of the Solo Leveling novel and webcomic have been licensed by Yen Press.
