Solo Leveling, the original novel written by Chugong and the webcomic adaptation by DUBU, remains one of the most popular action webcomics. The story follows Sung Jinwoo’s journey of becoming the strongest Hunter in the world after he accepts the System’s offer in becoming a Player following his near-death experience. The webcomic ran from March 2018 to December 2021.

After it was announced Solo Leveling would receive an anime adaptation, DUBU expressed excitement at seeing his and Chugong’s work come to life but unfortunately the illustrator succumbed to a brain hemorrhage due to chronic illness. A series of side stories, revolving around Jinwoo’s son, with a group of artists known as “DUBU’s disciples” illustrating released on Jan. 27, 2023 in honour of the late artist.

Solo Leveling will air next winter. The webcomic is available on Tappytoon and Tapas.
