BL webcomic Semantic Error will go on a two-month hiatus and return in May.

Popular BL webcomic Semantic Error recently released the English translation for Chapter 71 before announcing the series will go on hiatus until May 8. Since the premiere of Season 3 on Sept. 7, 2022, the webcomic has been releasing new chapters every 8th, 18th and 28th of the month. While Manta Comics did not give a reason for the break, Angy Kim, the artist for the webcomic, revealed they have been suffering from back pain and will need time to recover. The Korean serialization will resume on March 17.

Based on the original web novel by J.Soori, with webcomic illustrations provided by Angy Kim, Semantic Error follows Chu Sangwoo, a computer science major who finds enormous comfort in routine and logic. However, after he decides to take off his group mates’ names off a project as punishment for not pulling their weight, he suddenly finds himself with a handful of senior Jang Jaeyoung. Jaeyoung is every bit the opposite of Sangwoo: he’s spontaneous, a graphic arts major and loves to get under Sangwoo’s skin. As much as two might try to deny it, there’s a spark between them and as the two get closer, they discover their relationship might not be as big of an error as they believed it to be.

The popularity of the webcomic saw a live-action adaptation, starring Park Jaechan as Sangwoo and Park Seoham as Jaeyoung. The drama aired in February 2022 with eight episodes. While South Korea has had its fair share of BL dramas, including To My Star and Light on Me, Semantic Error brought a new wave of attention to LGBTQ+ relationships in media. The series received numerous nominations and awards including the Popular Star Award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards.

While May 8 seems like a long ways away, fans can reread the webcomic on Manta Comics and watch the drama on Viki.
