Shortly after Qiang Jin Jiu revived its manhua adaptation, the series has sent fans’ heart rates up with a new Valentine’s Day short.

The new chapter was released on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, on Bilibili Comics and utilizes a chibi art style. Xiao Chiye asked Shen Zechuan, twiddling his thumbs all the while, if he had forgotten something today. Shen Zechuan innocently replied that he didn’t seem to forget anything. At his despondent mood, Shen Zechuan couldn’t help but bestow a light kiss on his partner’s cheek.

The manhua adaptation of Qiang Jin Jiu was initially scheduled to drop in August 2023, but has been on hiatus, likely due to the negative comments from netizens on the art style. After six months, Qiang Jin Jiu relaunched the manhua on Feb. 13 with a new art style and has released character key visuals for Xiao Chiye and Shen Zechuan.

Written by Tang Jiuqing, Qiang Jin Jiu is an enemies to lovers story that begins with a rather violent first meeting between Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye. Fuelled by his hatred towards Shen Zechuan and his father, Xiao Chiye kicked Shen Zechuan in the chest so hard, it almost killed him. Shen Zechuan survived, but from then on, the two always wanted to tear the other’s head off when they came face to face. Intertwining political conspiracies, war, a richly-developed setting and a bittersweet (but emphasis on the sweet) relationship, Qiang Jin Jiu is a story beloved by many fans.

The Qiang Jin Jiu manhua will release on Bilibili on Feb. 13. There are no announcements for an official English translation as of this article’s publication. An audio drama is available on MaoerFM with two seasons.

Seven Seas has licensed the book for an official English translation and will release the first volume on June 4, 2024.
